Kindle Touch 3G

Kindle Touch 3G is the easiest option because there is no wireless setup—you are ready to shop, purchase, and read right out of the box. Built-in free 3G connectivity uses the same wireless signals that cell phones use, but there are no monthly fees or commitments — Amazon pays for Kindle Touch's 3G wireless connectivity. There are Fees for certain tasks. The added convenience of 3G enables you to download books anytime, anywhere, while on the go—without having to find a Wi-Fi hotspot connection. Wi-Fi is also supported on the device. With wireless coverage in over 100 countries and territories, Kindle Touch 3G is a great option for travelers.

Differences include:

  • HSDPA modem (3G) with a fallback to EDGE/GPRS; utilizes Amazon Whispernet to provide wireless coverage via AT&T's 3G high-speed data network in the U.S. and partner networks outside of the U.S. (Germany: Vodafone)

History

This is the 4th generation of Amazon Kindles although the 3rd generation is still available but renamed Kindle Keyboard. The 5th generation basic Kindle has a touch screen.
