AVI, Audio Video Interleaved, is a multimedia format introduced for Windows video. It is a container format that allows synchronous audio-with-video playback. It does support multiple audio tracks, and even multiple streams although this feature is seldom used. The file will typically have an .AVI extension. It does support metadata and can be used with XMP.

It can have MPEG4, ASP, XVID, DIVX codecs.
