Fully charge your PRS-T1
Connect your PRS-T1 to your PC or Mac. Start the Reader software if it doesn't auto-start.
Check for Updates, and follow the GUI prompts.

The reader software updating process doesn't seem to be working anymore, but there is an easy alternative
1. Download driver from SoftPedia:

1. Fully charge your PRS-T1

2. Download the stand-alone firmware updater file (see below) from Sony's support site.

3. Unzip this file using your favourite unzip utility:

For example, using the Linux command line:

 unzip "PRS-T1_Updater_1.0.03.11140.exe" "PRS-T1 Updater.package"

4. Connect your PRS-T1 to your PC with the USB cable (causing it to mount its 'SETTING' and 'READER' partitions).

5. Copy the "PRS-T1 Updater.package" file to the 'READER' file system.

For example, using the Linux command line:

 cp "PRS-T1 Updater.package" /media/READER/
 sync

6. Disconnect the PRS-T1 from the USB cable.

7. Power down the PRS-T1 (a full power off to the blank screen).

8. Hold down both the home button and the menu button, and, while keeping them held, press the power button to turn on the PRS-T1.

9. Release the home and menu buttons once the boot screen is shown.

The PRS-T1 should now install the update and automatically reboot once done.
