iPhone X is a whole new generation of iPhones from Apple. Apple wants you to call it the iPhone ten. This unit was replaced in September 2018 with the iPhone XS which has the same size screen. See also the iPhone XR release October 26, 2018.

[edit] Overview

This is an all glass iPhone with larger edge to edge image display. It has all of the iPhone 8 plus features plus more. The OLED screen is the first that rises to the standards of iPhone, with accurate, stunning colors, true blacks, high brightness, and a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio. This unit is barely larger than an iPhone 8 (5.44" vs. 5.65" high) with a screen larger than an iPhone 8 plus. Note that this screen has a ratio of 19.5:9 making it more than twice as tall as it is wide. Note that some of this area is taken up by the camera support (See #Face ID)

Bluetooth 5.0 support allows 2 simultaneous audio streams.

[edit] Face ID

Machine learning lets Face ID adapt to physical changes in your appearance over time. It is more secure than even a fingerprint ID. Face ID requires a very sophisticated setup to offer secure use. To the right of the image is an infared dot projector that projects dots all over your face which are then viewed by the Infrared camera (far left). Next to the this camera is a light source illuminator for use in dark rooms and a proximity sensor to check the distance to your face. Of course there is also the regular camera with true color to aid in recognition. There are also other standard items such as the ambient light sensor, the speaker and microphone.
