Jinke started the R&D of electronic reading devices in 1999. In 2000, they released their first model electronic reading device-- M model, which used the cholesterol display (BCD). Later they released dozens of models like M series models (M1, M2, M3...), S series models , L series models, U series models and K series models, which were sold in Chinese market, the sales volume was tens of thousands of units.

They started to use E Ink display for the electronic reading devices almost the same time that Sony did. The first model using E Ink display is Hanlin V8 model which shipped to the Chinese market in the 2003/2004 time frame. In 2006, they began to sell the products outside of China. (See photos.)
